Leng Jun Mun Germaine was an active member of the Outdoor Activity Club (ODAC) where she held the post of Treasurer. She was also part of the organizing committee for key events, such as the ODAC selection camp for JC1s in 2009. She planned the activities for the camp which took place in different parts of Singapore and was in charge of the smooth running of the three-day-two-night event. As a result of working closely with the planning committee and her teachers-in charge, Germaine learnt about teamwork and accommodating and appreciating differences between people. She also learnt flexibility and the ability to come up with alternative solutions in unexpected situations. In addition to the camp, she also helped in organizing several external activities to train the club’s members in their physical fitness and determination, exhibiting commendable leadership skills in the process. Despite being an active member of ODAC, she manages her time properly and managed to strike a balance between her academics and CCA.
Germaine has also participated in activities such as the annual SAFRA Bay Run and the 10KM Addidas Sundown Marathon.

Germaine represented St Andrew's Junior College as regular volunteer and taught primary school students from low-income families in Sheng Hong Family Centre over span of six months in 2008 on a weekly basis. She learnt about compassion and the need to help others. Germaine also learnt to appreciate her surroundings. Interacting with the children has also taught her how to be patient and how to deal with them when they misbehave. In addition to the weekly sessions, she was essential in helping to organize activities for a four-day-three-night camp during the December school holidays, exhibiting responsibility by ensuring that the children were safe during throughout the camp.
She also took part in her classs service learning in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, she served as a facilitator and taught and led the children in the activities. In 2009, she spent a day at HCA hospice and interacted with the old folks there. Germaine learnt to interact with older people and to be sensitive towards their feelings and needs. The success of these projects is an indication that Germaine and her team try to perfect whatever they do.

Others

Germaine represented St Andrews Junior College in the annual Pre-university Seminar for tertiary students in year 2008. During the five-day-four-night seminar, she had the opportunity to interact with students from other educational institutes and exchanged views on global issues with them in the context outside a classroom. Germaine learnt the importance of speaking up and sharing views with others.

Germaine also led a team on a biology trip to UK. She organized a hike to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve prior to the trip and exhibited outstanding planning skills. She worked closely with the teachers-in-charge to ensure that information is properly disseminated to her peers. Good organization skills were also needed when she and her team had to come up with the itinerary for the trip. During the trip, she had the opportunity to interact with students from UK and learn about their way of life. Visiting museums also allowed her to be exposed to the rich cultures and traditions of UK.

Germaine served as Biology Representative from 2008 to 2009. She completes tasks assigned to her with dedication and commitment.
